Mary's Market October... done :)

Sunday, 17th October 2010

October's Mary's Market was held yesterday in Freeman's Bay and MumMade was there to show Auckland what New Zealand's talented Mums from around the country have been working on for us parents and our little ones.

It was an early start Saturday morning packing everything into the car, dropping Mia off at Grandma's house for the day (thank God for Grandmas!) and then off to the Freemans Bay Community Hall to set up in time for the first visitors through at 9am on the dot.

It's interesting to see all the other stalls setting up their tables and putting out all their great products. There is a great vibe in the morning as the halls buzzes with activity and everyone prepares for a busy day.

This time, our table was set up on the stage at the end of the hall. It was a good position as we had a blank wall next to use which we could lean our screens for hanging bits of pieces against. Unlike last time, we decided for our sanity's sake, not to bring EVERYTHING with us as we went a little crazy last markets, trying to keep everything neatly displayed and ordered. So instead we brought a selection of our Modern Cloth Nappies, the ever popular soft toys, our beautifully made Merino clothing, the lovely baby balms and creams and bits and pieces from the rest of the collection.

We also brought a long a few new things that are not on the website yet to see how they got on at the markets. For those of you who weren't there, we'll be letting you all see what new stuff we have once we've finalised the details and ordered in all the different styles but needless to say, there are some great new products coming to MumMade that we are really excited about so watch this space.

We had lots of people come and check out the MumMade stall and Craig (being the geek he is) had his iPad setup on the table as well so that people could see the website and the wonderful things we have on there that we couldn't bring with us. We were pleasantly surprised by the number of people who came up to us and congratulated us on the website launch and said they support us on Facebook! So thanks to all of you (and everyone else!) who came and said hello!

Overall, it was a fantastic day and the market was a huge success, both of us and everyone else who had a stall. The weather was great and the hall was heaving with mums, dads, grandparents and the curious. Seeming as Craig was with me and could look after the stall, I took the opportunity to go around and see some of the other stalls and chat with their owners it looks like we are going to have a few more exciting things to offer you all in the weeks to come as we create new relationships with more talented people making high quality bits and pieces for you and your little ones!

With the day over and everything packed back in the car, we headed back to Grandma's house to pick up Mia, who seemed to have had the time of her life and home to relax before repacking the stock and checking the numbers... fun times.

The next Mary's Market for Auckland will be in November and as we understand it, will be the last one of the year. Until then, please check out some of our great gear and keep an eye out on Facebook, Twitter and of course, here on the blog for our new product ranges coming shortly.

Thanks again to everyone who came and saw us at the markets and of course a huge thanks to all our Mums for doing the great jobs they have done on the products we promote for them.

Until next time.
